I’ve spent over $350,000 and HUNDREDS of hours making videos for YouTube, but I only have 3,000 subscriber and my videos get under 200 views each. Most would look at that and say it's a total failure. But I don't. Here's why I think YouTube will be my next big channel (and a full breakdown of our strategy):
My Founder Brand content is my most effective marketing.
3 posts per week drives ~80% of the 30k unique visits RB2B gets per month.
If I can expand it to another channel, it should add to top-of-funnel.
But what channel?
Twitter? Too competitive.
Instagram? Too wanna-preneur.
Tiktok? Even worse.
But on YouTube… I see:
Ahrefs with 500k followers
Instantly with thousands of views per video
A playbook I can emulate and hopefully get similar results
Here’s what I’ve done on YouTube so far:
Created an 18-episode DEEP storytelling docuseries: Billion Dollar Challenge
Done a weekly live show called UnF*ck My Startup
Posted my LinkedIn talking heads as shorts
Here’s why those didn’t work:
Billion Dollar Challenge:
Kristy made this over the course of a year, and the work is incredible. MANY people have told me they binged the entire thing. And if you have, you are EXTREMELY close to me and our journey. But… it’s not a YouTube video. Zero distribution.
UnF*ck My Startup LIVE:
We aren't focusing on the ONE THING our guests are doing to get customers. Our audience participation doesn’t work. Our hooks suck. Our thumbnails suck. But, even if we improved all of that, it’s still not a native YouTube video.
My talking heads as shorts:
These NEVER worked on YouTube, and have even stopped working on LinkedIn.
Here’s what I’m trying now:
1x Weekly YouTube Native Video:
Samu is writing a script for me every week of a video that is contextualized for YouTube. Video 1 is below, it's more VSL than Youtube, but we needed it!
The breakdown will be as follows:

Here’s what success looks like:
In 1 year my channel looks like Instantly’s (64k subs, >3k avg views per video), with all of the content niche for our buyer persona (early stage SaaS/marketing).
Takeaway
Just because you tried a channel once doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try again.
I’ve flipped email on and off last year… and it’s crushing for us today.
As Alex Hormozi says…
Every successful person started here:
0 revenue
0 subscribers
0 customers
0 fans
The only difference between them and everyone else is they actually start…
And keep going.
